Book, "The Oregon Archives', 1843. The book has lots its original cover and binding, and now sits between two makeshift covers where are coming apart. Both front and back covers have homemade labels in Edward Huggins' handwriting, they read "The Oregon Archives, 1843, Edward Huggins, Fort Nisqually, Oregon Territory, April 13th, 1850, per Hudson Bay Cos. Schooner "Cadboro", Captain: Jas Sangster. 1843". On the bottom edge of the book, across the pages, is written "Archives of Oregon 43". Inside the back cover is "Huggins, Steilacoom, Wash." but it off center and the first few letters of "Steilacoom" are missing and the writing is upside down, indicating it was cut from a larger piece of card board. The book itself is 328 pages long, consisting of printed letters and meeting minutes, notes, and reports dealing with Oregon Territory from Feb. 17, 1841 through Dec. 1, 1848. The preface at the beginning of the book is signed "L.F.G." of Salem, Oregon Territory, September 1853.
The book measures 9 inches tall, 5 3/4 inches long, and 3/4 inches wide.
